Joseph Sold Into Egypt
(A Dreamer Prophet)

Atonement, forgiveness,
real Christmas gifts
from the Master.

Dreams interpreted,
lessons learned,
in “Joseph”
the musical.
My own sins,
memories,
portrayed in
Simeon’s life.

Guilt wracked his soul
as he remembered
anger, Selling Joseph.
Pondering his sin
There seemed no way
to change the past.
We fail to see
God’s hand in life.

In an instant he
lost all he loved,
family, friends,
vocation,
church brethren.
Left alone he pondered
the agony of now,
in a foreign prison.

After a servant
of God visited;
in loneliness he
sought God’s will.
He sang of hope
that the Savior
would give strength,
”iron” in his soul
and his heart.

From bondage,
Delivered, with
Joseph’s help to see
God’s plan clearly.
Hated inspired dreams
had indeed come true,
through Christ’s servant,
his lost brother, Joseph.

Did Simeon feel
Peace as I do?
I seek Christ’s will.
I feel the miracle
that the Savior’s love
and His atonement
can be to heal
a sinner’s hurting heart.

May Joseph’s example
Help us forgive.

Atonement, forgiveness,
real Christmas gifts
from the Master.

Genesis 37:
3 Now Israel loved Joseph more than
all his children, because he was the
son of his old age.-------
4. And when his brethren saw that
their father loved him more than all
his brethren, they hated him and
could not speak peaceably unto him.
5. And Joseph dreamed a dream and he
told it his brethren and they hated
him yet the more.
19 And they said one to another behold
this dreamer cometh.
28. --- They drew and lifted up Joseph
out of the pit and sold Joseph to the
Ishmaelites for 20 pieces of silver. ---
JS Gen 48:11 For thou (Joseph) shalt be
a light unto my people to deliver them
in the days of their captivity, from
bondage, and to bring salvation unto
them when they are altogether bowed
down unto sin.

Note:
Tim has only rarely sung a solo and
then only in a ward choir, There is
always a better tenor who reads music,
like Rick. Tim remembers personal
revelation as powerful as Joseph in
our day described before he went to
the sacred grove. Tim would not have
tried out for “Joseph” without that
inner voice. He told Vivian and then
his bishop that he would submit to the
Savior’s will. A simple audition’s
results have been frightening. Inspired
directors cast Tim as Simeon. He wants
to do God’s will, but feels so
inadequate. Even in practices, only
when God’s help is there can he do
well. It is there. May we all help
God’s will to be done in our life
and the lives of others.
