Ministering Angels and Pain

2008 Christmas Message

See the stable
in Bethlehem,
was that birth
a painful time
for mother
and holy child?
Did ministering
angels aid in
the virgin birth?
On high did
angels then sing
rejoicing?

Can we learn
from our pain
Can we use
our painful
experiences to
enhance worship?
Yes! I’ve felt
pain this year,
most of us
do at times.

I’m not close
to dying,
in fact
I may be
more alive
from having gone
through the pain.
I cried in pain.
Even pain killers
could not stop
the constant pain.

Have you like me,
in agony, felt
His support?
Ministering
angels(1) came
like my Bishop
had promised(2),
and like Our
Redeemer felt(3).
Can we learn
submission
to those who
minister and
to Christ’s will?

My intense pain:
fall from a tree,
black and blue,
pinched back nerve,
leg pain, and
prostate cancer;
two surgeries
in one week.

But
bleeding from
every pore Christ
endured much more.
May we instead
of self pity,
just learn to
appreciate
Our Savior more.

footnotes:
1.
Ministering Angels were
present in the Hospital.
I even know who.
Grandpa Pectol, my
older brother Doyle,
Ruth and Elton Robb
and My own Parents
were there. I felt
them. I even wondered
about Art Tucker.
I have found that
ministering angels are
also ward members as
Bishop Edgley described
in Oct Conference.
Ministering angels are
also mortal caregivers
in the hospitals.
The first surgeon
even used a spinal
block that took away
the pain from the
pinched nerve.
2.
In the hour before
Sunday session of
General Conference.
My kind bishop met
with me. His insight
was that I would have
ministering angels as
I and all who receive
the Aaronic priesthood
are promised.
