poem about Andy
Loss, A freind
[Dec '00]

1
Those bright brown eyes
Once so full of joy for life
Are glazed over and lifeless
I have said goodbye through
my lonely wet lost-pet tears

2
We are not really Sad,
Though a little bit lonely
We lost our Andy today.
Her head in my hands
As she peacefully died

3
Our lives are richer & wiser
Because we shared her life,
There are fond memories.
This is a second set of verses
About her life and her death

4
The same characters are here
A child prayed restoring her life
now as an adult the child
asks for death's sweetness
This would end suffering.

5
Vivian cried in my arms
She too, mourned the loss
A part of her heart, memories
the wagging excitement
not just tail but whole body

6
One could not really pet her
Her head would not stay still
Long enough to allow it
She was to excited about
Being given attention

7
Splotchy black & grey hair
will be found for a long time.
She left a mark everywhere.
Hair fell in old age clumps
During the slow final weeks.

8
The seat beside me in my car
Will seem empty, unsplotchy
Her presence still there
Barking “open the window”
To thrust out her head

9
That was her seat
She always had to be asked
To vacate for a passenger
Then she was on the lap
For it was still her window

10
She taught us so much
Her unselfish protecting love,
Her loyal example,
Her Play, her harness pull
May we remember often.

We Miss Her
